Jourdan v.s. Freja

For this, I was inspired by a recent post over at one of my favorite blogs; Rock.The.Trend  in which, Laila (owner of the blog) decided to make a comparison of Lara Stone and Natasha Poly to see who is more deserving of that No.1 spot at Models.com  Held by Raquel Zimmermann over the last year, the spot is going to be refilled with a new girl. Who will it be? Well, chances are Natasha will get it, considering she has booked SO many jobs. But, personally, in terms of success I can understand giving the spot to her, but do I consider her a favorite of mine? No. I would much rather Lara get the spot. Anyway, since Raquel - my favorite - has already had that coveted No.1 spot, I decided to compare other two girls - in which, I adore - that I think deserve that spot the most. Jourdan Dunn and Freja Beha Erichsen. In terms of that often forgotten actual skill behind modeling - they are both knock-outs. Runway, or editorial - these two girls are absolute pros, and when I see them, I feel something. That's what fashion is about - being moved - feeling the depth within the vision of an artist. Most of my top favorite models are Raquel Zimmermann, Freja Beha ErichsenJourdan Dunn, Sessilee Lopez, Karlie KlossHanne Gaby Odiele and newcomer Anya Kazakova. Why? Well, it's all in their presence. They can deliver a look that nobody else can, they can tell a story by modeling. Anyway, here is my comparison between two models who know their craft, and know it quite well:

VOGUE COVERS: TIE
Overall, Jourdan has four - including an American Vogue, and I beleive Freja has five. Although, Jourdan has been on the cover of American Vogue last month which means you have officially 'made it' as a model, and Freja hasn't even appeared in American Vogue before, they both seam to deliver so much strength and strikingness to the cover shots that they have, I think they are both natural Covergirls.

CAMPAIGNS: FREJA BEHA ERICHSEN
Although Jourdan has appeared in high-paying ads for TopShop, The Gap, Yves Saint Laurent, and a few more, Freja has to win this one. Freja Beha Erichsen has been the face of Chanel, Gucci, Chloé, Balenciaga, Roberto Cavalli, Armani and many more.

RUNWAY: JOURDAN DUNN
Jourdan Dunn has walked in an incredible 63 shows last season. Not only that - but she has broken barriers for models of African descent as the first black model in over 10 years to walk in Prada, and one of the few to walk for Chanel Haute Couture.  There is a reason why she walks in so many shows; she is one of the best walkers out there.

EDITORIAL: TIE
Both girls are the best of the best when it comes to editorial shoots. They know how to pose and work the clothing extremely well. So well, it's chilling at times.

DESIGNER MUSE: FREJA BEHA ERICHSEN
Freja Beha Erichsen has been an evident muse for superstar fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld for almost a few years now belive it or not. She has appeared in two different campaigns for Chanel, as well as booking her own campaign for Karl Lagerfeld's namesake brand, and opening and closing Karl Lagerfeld's most recent Haute Couture show for Chanel.

COMMERCIAL APPEAL: JOURDAN DUNN
Everyone dreads being called "commercial" in the fashion world. What they don't realize is that being called "too commercial" and having a "commercial" side to you are two completely different things. Being too commercial means that you're better off doing more mainstream advertisements - possibly for chain restaurants or department stores. However, having a commercial side to you is much better in the long run than just being edgy - and nothing else. I could see Jourdan Dunn not only on the cover of Vogue and walking for shows such as Prada and Chanel Haute Couture, but also possibly in something like a L'oréal or Estée Lauder ad in the future - like Supermodels Linda Evangelista and Paulina Porizkova- which is how you essentially make the money needed to support yourself better in the long run.

MISC. COVERS: FREJA BEHA ERICHSEN
Although for Vogue Covers, I thought it was a fair tie between Jourdan and Freja - Freja's Numéro, Harper's Bazaar, and W Magazine covers are absolutely incredible - much better than her Vogues. Both of her Numéro covers happen to be some of my favorite covers in the last few years. They just scream fashion.

BODY/IMAGE: JOURDAN DUNN
Not only does she have an absolutely breathtakingly beautiful face, but Jourdan Dunn has the body and perfect posture of Naomi Campbell circa 1986.

So, who wins it for you? And, who do you think ultimately deserves the No.1 spot on Models.com?

I love these model battles.

Jourdan wins for me. To be honest Kasia, I never really paid much attention to Freja until you kindly pointed her out to me at the Balenciaga show.

I love Rock the Trend too! But I think The Imagist did the Lara vs. Natasha story first:

Anyway, I love your original take by choosing Freja and Jourdan.

Yeah. Well, there are so many models who have the look and they're successful - but they don't actually do anything. Freja and Jourdan are very different, yet similar in the sense that they actually think through their poses and they really know how to work the garments. They actually have beauty and skill. I'm all for them getting more covers! :)

Oh, really? I didn't know that.
And, thank you. :)

Jourdan is my winner. They are both very proffesional, and great models, but to put it simply- Freja bores me. She looks like the common russian/east europinian model.

Yeah. I really like them both a lot and I hope they get more covers. Jourdan needs a Vogue Paris cover.
