Sunday Night Bash/ Fashion Challenge
A space cruise!
What looks would you pack for an overnight cruise aboard a space ship?
You’ll need futuristic looks including daywear and formalwear.
Link us looks from style.com or polyvore or wherever. Give us an idea of a look you want to achieve. I’ll post the pictures as soon as I can. And a note…boys, there is also a men.style.com if you’d rather use men’s looks.
R1ma
Daywear by Balenciaga and formalwear by Giles.
All while wearing those weirdly awesome Balenciaga shoes!
Kasia
Day-wear by Balenciaga and formal-wear by Marc Jacobs
Both worn with this Marc Jacobs headpiece!
Clare from the wonderful Breathless. Magazine.Stardoll.
My Day time is from the fabulous Spring 2007 collection by Christopher Kane, This is a dress that I could actually see my self wearing, I'm not sure if its just me but from the colour and shape's it really give me a space vibe.
My Formal is from the very interesting Chanel Couture collection from Fall 2008, The first time I saw this collection I adored the different shapes, Karl Largerfeld doesn't always produce, and from the small details of the make-up and hair the whole look to me is my perfect Space cruise formal wear.
Camille
Daywear and Formal Wear.
Wylie
For my Daywear I chose Halston.
For my Formal Wear I chose a Couture Dior dress accomanied with a Jean Paul Gaultier Couture headpiece. I think that the headpiece could work for both outfits!
Amelie
Daywear and formal wear.
Elena
Day wear: Comme des Garcons spring 09 : I love the texture of this outfit and how you can find it in the hat again!
My formal wear choice: Hussein Chalayan Fall 09
this one is not too exaggerated so I have also added a hat from Victor&Rolf fall 07, one of my favourite collections ever!
Brianne
Gareth Pugh for day worn with Phi boots.
Gaultier for night, worn with a Chanel glove and headpiece.

Greta idea I really love this theme, so much to choose from, unfortunately I had less time so I didn't also dress my medoll. I love the looks you have chosen Rima, especially the heels !

thank you Clare! it took me a while to think of something
i love your looks..the first one does look very comfotable and very wearable. I love the burst of color on the belt and the fact that the skirt looks like it could just be detached and you have a swimsuit for the pool! Meanwhile the chanel does look very space age with the fabric and cut, as you mentioned...i never understood this collection much (they all looked like anna wintour clones) but now that I see how you've used them, i find a new apreciation!
Kasia I had to lol at the contriversial MJ headbands! That was a really risky choice! The Balenciaga is very simple and light and even though not many people on earth might wear it, in space it would be perfect for the day time! In relation, the Marc Jacobs piece is very modern (nothing is more modern than a woman wearing pants at a formal event!) and it looks comfortable to lounge around in your cabin. I never though that Marc Jacobs would do somting so space agey and so approproate for a cruise in a fall collection!
Day-wear (oh-so-predicatble...sorry): http://kingdomofstyle.typepad.co.uk/.a/6a00d8341c2f0953ef01156f5f8dd6970c-500wi

Camille so out of this world! Lady Gaga would be so green with envy since she was never able to wear the original Hussein Chalayan dress. I can't believe I didn't even think about him when picking my outfit! The bubble dress would be so fun to wear while the formal is quite scandalous! It would be perfect for space but I am just wondering how you'd be able to sit with it on!:-P

Yeah John represents! THe balencigaga would be so comgortable as formalwear and I love how it looks like there is a bow tie!
I love those white sunglasses! They looks os fututistic yet very Kanye West- like ( although I did just see them on that bustah rhymes video). The dior shirt is really hot! while the d&G pants are perfect since they are all shiny!
menswear could be so interesting when it wants to be!

Jessie struts in the space ship wearing a structured Gareth Pugh! Too high fashion and futuristic for words. The McQueen on the other hand is a total surprise to me but it works (just like Clare's unexpected Chanel). Way to think outside the box!
Thank you Rima! I figure the Marc Jacobs pieces I chose could have sort of a Star Wars-ish feel to them. Haha! And I thought the Balenciaga piece seamed kind of like a slightly intergalactic version of a simple little dress. :P
Rima, I your choices are brilliant!
Great idea! I love your choices Rima!
For my Daywear I chose Halston.

For daywear I'll be lounging in:

Rima: Those shoes are so space-agey that it hurts! Maybe literally. They don't look comfy at all. Great choice though!
Jessie: I love your Gareth Pugh daywear. It's so spot on with the theme of the bash.
Wow I must say, Rima this idea is iconic! I am so sorry that I missed it too! though I would lke to post my choices!

Gaultier for night, worn with a Chanel glove and headpiece.
Uhhm was I too late?
thanks everyone:-) for the kind words and for participating!
Kasia- lol you are right! very princess leia!
Wylie- the Halston is awesome! I love how comfortabe it looks! You could actually wear that in a cruise on earth too but it works for space. As for the formal wear, it is very eell thought out. Shiny and elegant. And that hat is just really cool looking
Amelie- Couture girl! I love. The gaultier is very va va voom-- old hollywood yet futuristic...you could be a superhero wearing that by the pool. And the Dior has the same feel too! That belt/corset is so cool!
Elena- I am glad you chose outfits for their futuristic material rather than overlty outrageos design. The CDG is very avant garde and very ahead of it's time! I love how it reflects the light and the crumpled nature has such a smoky effect. The Husein Chalayan outfit has a really cool front panel. I personaly wouldn't have vhosen that for formal wear, but if you think it would work then you are thinking way ahead of me! Thos V&R spotlights are epic!
Brianne-Wow you really gave this a lot of thought! I love the black and white theme you have going on! Very spring 2009. The gareth pugh is insane and I love the gravity defying ruffles that look like they could be airplane wings and the Phi boots just remind me of Frankenstein somehow. Too cool. And the formal enemble I culd so see. It looks very modern and romantic! The Chanel headpiece reminds me of the stewardess' ats in the picture above this post! I love the vibe!
Thank you! Can you imagine just sleeping in the Halston? That would feel like sleeping in a cloud. But what if you were walking and it started to get very windy. Ahh that would be bad. I think the Dior would only be futuristic if I had that haircut along with that bracelet/ cuff.
