NYC Fashion Week SS 2010 Day 7
Proenza Schouler, Oscar De La Renta, Michael Kors, Marchesa, Anna Sui, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Alexandre Herchcovitch, Peter Som, Nanette Lepore
Proenza Schouler
The hair and make-up made the models look like meth addicts didn’t it? Jamie looks really good in this show though.
Other than that, I love this more commercial spring line from Lorenzo and Jack. It is very young and vibrant and quite a departure from their whole urban New Yorker feel of the past few seasons. They went with a more west coast/ scuba/ underwater thing but stayed true to the Proenza Schouler identity by executing the outfits with such panache and attention to detail by developing numerous textiles like silk jacquards that they cinched and glazed as well as silk shredded by lasers (the blue fringe on Sasha Pivs outfit).
The shoes were crazy good. Lots of dresses, with a good balance of a straight silhouette and sometimes with a wide skirt. It was full of texture and full of color: turquoise, teal, aqua, and ultramarine.
Iris opened the show while Arlenis closed.
This season Oscar seemed to get inspiration from Heidi with those braids and Swiss/German/Austrian folk detailing.
Very sophisticated Park Avenue and lots of potential red carpet moments.
Carmen and Noah opened the show while Natasha closed. Shout out to Garrett Neff and Mathias Lauridsen as well as Blaine, Lenz and Simon.
I love this collection. It is very simple, clean and chic. This season though Michael dared to go a little bit more sexier than usual with panel cut put dresses, strategically exposing the thigh and various other flesh. I love how with a lot of dresses the surprised was in the detailing of the back…like it looked like an average LBD but when the girl turned around there would be this criss-cross thing happening.
Lots of potential red carpet gowns. Very pretty things that lots of girls (especially actresses) would love to covet. Nothing new and revolutionary, just pretty.
Georgina had always done a lot of intricate folds in her collections with origami influence, but this season she really went all out on that whole reference. It felt like she finally addressed this obsession with geisha style kimonos and oversized bows.
I like it it enough. They are really well made. Her team executes this complicated designs really well.
Poly opened and closed again. Stam bleached her hair. And Sessilee wore a wtf? Ranya wig.
Anna Sui doing Anna Sui. As always, lots of mixing of the prints, but thus time in blue.
Knee high socks seem to be in this season.
To be honest, this disappointed me. I expected better and more original stuff from Lim. This season looked very Rodarte (see Ranya’s black and gray dress).
I love most of the shoes though!
Ooo…another Alex was inspired by football.
This time around though it’s more of a colorful Brazilian twist.
Some of it I didn’t like one bit, I detested the pieces that made the model’s shoulders look like men. I did like the over the top, parade worthy last pieces.
This was a cute collection. More vintage inspired looks and head wraps. It all looks very fresh and young.
Very colorful, vibrant and useful. It could've looks like stuff that you buy at the mall, but it didn’t. It looked well crafted enough.
