The Evolution of Cheryl Cole

Over the past year Cheryl's status as a style icon has been steadly growing. Throughout last years series she stepped out in consecutive look after look, dressed by the likes of Julien McDonald and Matthew Williamson. However, it was not until she wore the sequined Julien McDonald dress from the Claire Holt doll for the finale last year, was she truly accepted by the more serious of fashion critics. From there she went on to appear on the cover of british Vogue earlier this year, and from there it was expected she would expand in terms of personal style. But no one could predict the extent to which she has done so.

Attending live auditions in designers such as 3.1 Philip Lim and Alexander McQueen. Even making an appearence in the ELLE Louis Vuitton skirt one week. However it wasn't until the live shows has she truly took her style to the next level.

WEEK 1
Altier Versace

Cheryl stepped out during the first live shows wearing a gorgeous Altier Versace gown, I presume she has some sort of agreement with Donatella Versace, as she has wore the couture label several times troughout the shows. Wowing each time.

WEEK 2
Altier Versace

This dress has become something of iconic. First worn by Heidi Klum for a Vogue Germany photoshoot, then by Emma Roberts for the Met Costume Gala. I must say I was dissapointed certainly by Emma's way in which she wore the dress, and Heidi's with the cardigan. So Cheryl's way she has worn it is easily my favourite.

WEEK 3
Altier Versace

I love Cheryl's goddess take on this dress, she does the dress more justice than Penelope Cruz. Although I hate the hairpiece. It makes the outfit border on costume like.

WEEK 3 Show 2
Julien McDonald

I really don't like this look as much as the previous looks. This was the closing look for Julien's Spring 2010 show, hot off the runway from a few weeks before, but there are so many better looks from the show than this.

WEEK 4
David Koma

I love Cheryl in this dress, I recognized it instantly as soon as she stepped out in it. If she can carry this look off, then she can carry pretty much anything off. This dress wasn't as well recieved as her previous dresses. I love how she works this dress, and Over the Knee boots. Two big trends to pull of in one look.

Here is where I recognized the dress from, my favourite look from the shoot with Freja and Sasha.

And what Cheryl used to look like...

How is she getting these designer clothes? Does the show pay for them at times when they have made it far enough?

Thats what I mean, I see designers like Julien McDonald and David Roma giving her clothes. But Altier Versace hardly needs publicity, Im guessing she is loaned them.

Most likely. Do other contestants get these clothes as well? I mean do other designers loan their clothing to the other competitors? She is very lucky!

love her...her and Victoria, Queen of the WAGS

i love how she brings high fashion to the mainstream without looking like she's trying to hard, like say, Rihanna.

lol at the last picture

Well she's certainly no Victoria Beckham. I see the work of a stylist being involved here.. just sayin.. :P

Queen of WAGS! hehe

Like it does not look over the top. Yeah, I don't see how any designer would let a random contestant loan their pieces to her. So she most likely has a stylist

I don't watch X-factor (I wish I did or knew where I can find the newest episodes b/c I simply adore Cheryl and Danni) but I don't believe Cheryl Cole is a "random contestant"...

Yeah I wasnt sure about tht, do we even get the show in the US?

Shes a judge, she was part of Girls Aloud and has now gone solo.

Oh i was confused! I thought that it was a bit like "american idol" and that the contestants are more "random" but they are experienced singers!
