Yay R’el!/ MDC Made a Booboo

NO! Are you kidding me? Why!? She's just a poor man's version of Jourdan, this really bothers me. And why do you act surprised that they confused her with Jourdan? Numéro made R'el look exactly like her in this shoot.

this girl look so ghetto im sorry but i dont think she gonna be big this season. she might do a couple of shows but nothing major. she looks like a video vixen.

I stand by my contention and with my love for these new girls.

Jourdan is beautiful in a "i'm in awe of your beauty" way

while R'el's is a "you're odd beauty inspires me"

but yeah the stylist was really lame in putting masks on her making it confusing

i disagree, i have a feeling we'll be seeing her a lot more of her during fashion week despite your guys' opinions of her...she is quite striking and as i said before, casting directors are talking about her...besides, i always welcome more black models in the industry


but I think we should expect an ed with Jourdan an R'el soon, a la' Sasha and Gemma

i am so confident in this girl that I am willing to give up this blog if we don't see her that much during fashion week...

if she makes it big this season good for her. but i dont see anything special about her. the girl i think will be big this season in term of black model is sessilee. rel looks too commercial to me. i understand your love for her but right now im not really into her yet. i guess we will see.

Rima- can you just answer this one thing... I want to surprise you with something!I think you will love it! Just tell me one thing... If you could pick any model to be on any cover for the september issue. Who would it be? Would it be a new comer (this girl?) or a supermodel? Just pick anyone!

I don't dislike Re'l but I don't like how the industry is forcing her to be this replacement for Jourdan - in my opinion she just doesn't measure up when compared to her. Instead, they should just give her a look of her own. Gemma and Sasha looked similar, but I don't think it was as bad as this. They used to always do shoots together, and they'd embrace that they had a similar look instead of using one girl over the other to try and fool the reader. Besides, I've never personally confused them both - Sasha has a lot of personality in her shoots that separates her from everyone.

By the way, this editorial is horrible in my opinion. It's borderline offensive how the white girl is fully dressed in Prada and Chanel while she's grabbing the black girl who's practically completely naked in every shot with a face mask on.

God forbid the industry gave a black model their own cover and editorial where she could wear actual garments and not have her face covered. I just don't understand why the industry is so racist. I would much rather buy a magazine with Jourdan or Sessilee on it than I would one with someone like Gisele or Natalia. It seams like the only recent black model to have her own cover without a group of other models and without the words "The Black Issue" or "Black Beauties" attached was Arlenis' Vogue Germany cover.

they just have to face the fact that no one can replace jourdan. thats the end of the story. i dont hate rel but i also dont like her either. i just hate when people say she going to replace jourdan since joujour is going to be absent this season. btw her her ed shes naked hmm. why black girls always gotta be naked.

Haha I agree with Kasia--R'el looks like Melodie's sex slave in this editorial. I don't think it's offensive that Models.com mistook R'el for Jourdan, though. I don't think nearly as many people would be outraged if it were a white model.

Models I always mix up are Caroline Trentini and Lily Donaldson, Sessilee and Arlenis, and Sasha with Natalia Vodianova! I can tell them apart if they're standing next to each other, but otherwise it takes me a moment to make the distinction!

I know what you mean Dina! I constantly used to mix up Eniko Mihalik with other girls for some reason - I never really knew who she was until recently because she just kind of looks like a mix of every other model. Haha!

What caught my attention REALLY in these photos was that nobody's mentioning what we're actually seeing. That is, that a dark skinned girl, mostly naked, with constraints next to a white girl with clothes on who barely shows her boobs.

I'm all about the contrasts and the shock and awe in fashion, don't get me wrong.. and I'm going to throw it out there but the pictures gave me a sense of rich white girl with her african slave.

I know my observations are reflecting my own view of the world and maybe it's not an issue for anyone else. I just get a little tired of the mainstream "white skinny girl in focus while everyone else is just an accessory".

granted, all eyes are on the dark skinned girl, but after all, it IS clothes they're selling right? And the white girl is showing off most of it.

I'm curious, what do you think about this?
