Milan SS 2010 Day 1
D&G, Giorgio Armani, Just Cavalli, Moschino Cheap and Chic, and Antonio Marras. Prada has it’s separate post HERE.
A lot of people have been dismissing this collection as “tacky”, but i completely disagree.
I always find joy in seeing Italians try to interpret the American West (e.g. the “Spaghettis Westerns” starring Clint Eastwood and directed and directed by Italian Sergio Leon) and this collection was no different. Dolce and Gabanna are very on trend with the whole suede and denim motif (see Ralph Lauren SS10) but they made it D&G by making the cut really sexy and short and sassy.
Some of the techniques they used with the suede belts and full skirts remind me of the intricacies of an Alaia. And that is why I loved this collection.
Giorgio Armani
This collection baffles me. Not in a bad way but not in a good way either.
The first few pieces with the navy pantsuits were very Armani but then the colors just got louder and brighter. It doesn’t seem like such an Armani thing to do…
Giorgio is on trend by using blues and Gingham (aka picnic table cloth that has been seen this season in Christopher Kane’s show and in Marc Jacobs’).
Just…keep walking.
As seen on Marc Jacobs at New York, there were girls who wore their bras over their shirts.
Moschino Cheap and Chic
Some of it looked kinda chic and some of it looked really cheap (I am looking at you EVE and PEACE).
Lots of Transparant.
